A New Dog In Town
New dogs and old tricks. On Friday morning team GuardDog huddled at Anodyne Coffee Shop ( that's 43rd and Nicollet for those scoring at home)to ingest massive amounts of coffee and talk shop with another of America's most famous dog lovers. Her name is Diana Flynn, and she is the founder of Otis and Claude, the hippest, coolest, most stylish dog toys on the planet. She was in town to pitch her wares at a certain high-profile retailer interested in high-brow concepts like Floyd.
We swapped stories about small business, tussles with printers and how to eke out a living without being crushed by the behemoth multi-nationals. Suffice it to say, she's an inspiration to team GuardDog and we would hope that if you like our stuff you might give her stuff a try. Besides, there's nothing wrong with having not only the coolest dog in town, but the most stylish.
Here's to all the little guys with a passion for creativity, style and innovation.
Cheers,
Mike

I Love The Internet
It's a beautiful thing. So David Harmon, of Harco, is google-ing for belt-buckles and comes across the GuardDog. With a line of text in the browser and a click or two of the mouse later he becomes a retailer of GuardDog Watches. As he told it - he wasn't even looking for watches, just stumbled across it and said "hey that's a pretty good idea."
Amazing. Simply amazing. The beauty is his location in North Carolina, adding yet another state to the ever growing legion of GuardDog Fans.
Anyone wanting to buy a watch from Harco should call 888.568.9416.
Thanks Dave!

Even Moms Love The GuardDog - Fan Mail
How 'bout this. There are a lot or reasons to love your Mom, but this has to be one of the best. Here's some fan mail from a couple weeks back.
Read on:
Hey guys, my mom is 82 and she spotted my Guard Dog. She wanted to know what it was. When I showed her it was a watch with a big and easy to see face, she immediately wanted it. It was no easy task wrestling it away from her, either. The old bird is tougher than she looks!! Apparently, she can???t see those tiny wristwatch faces any longer and this time beacon really tripped her trigger. I couldn???t leave the old folks home until I promised to get on the internet and find her one of those contraptions. I got mine through Rockler Woodworking and I like those guys a lot so I will try them before resorting to Redwing Shoes. I am a remodeling contractor and woodworking hobbyist who has gone through a plethora of watches in my day???most ruined by abuse that they weren???t made to take. Though a few nicks and scratches have assailed the Guard Dog???s case, nary a mark on the watch face! Plunkin??? down some more coin of the realm will be a pleasure if it???ll make dear mom a happy camper. We shall see!! Thanks again for a fabulous product.
Kevin F. V** B***n
Thanks Kevin and thanks Mom for supporting GuardDog.

A Day In The Garage
File this under general musings. It was a solid day in Minneapolis. The weather has turned back to somewhat normal. Today the GuardDog Guys were hard at work in the warehouse. Eric, our technical and product guru, who shall henceforth be referred to as "The Doctor" had whipped up a nifty 6pc. counter display with some OSB, some peghooks we bought at this really cool salvage house, some roof flashing and some raging 4 x 6 photos turned into POP headers.
For those interested, we are working on some cool GuardDog Stickers. I hope to have 'em ready in 2-3 weeks. We've also been reviewing some of the photo entries. It might be just me, but we have an exceptionally good-looking group of dog-lovers.
One last thing- a big "shout-out" to Mike H. for getting the blog up and running. See you guys later.

Welcome to Hair of the Dog
The official, unofficial blog of GuardDog Watch and Clock.
Who are we and why should you read this blog?
We're just a singer in a rock 'n roll band. Well that might be stretching to truth a tad. Actually, truth be told we're just a couple former cogs in the corporate machine who chucked it all to start our own gig. Why should you read this blog? Well we aren't going to be trying to take down the mainstream media and we won't be dissecting, like Aaron Gleeman, the paltry OPS of Louis Rivas. What we will be doing is interacting with y'all. That should include announcing new watches, special promotions, user feedback and perhaps if the mood strikes us a little bit of commentary. From time to time we might invite a guest blogger and maybe you might get to see a few pieces of our fan mail.
We also want to spread the word about cool businesses and the people who make them run. That includes guys like Mark Settergren of Settergren Ace Hardware, Craig Landgraf of Lake Country Builder's and guys like Paul and Steve Kuhlman of Acme Electric. There's also cool places to shop like Duluth Trading Company, McGuckin Hardware and Gardner Hardware in Minneapolis. There's more we could mention now, but I don't want to run out of material on the first post.
Anyhow, thanks for stopping by and as always stay in touch.
Mike
